Our Respect at Work course for Employees covers:

Respect at Work for Managers

Inclusion Awareness and Action

Our Inclusion Awareness and Action course is designed for all employees, including those with managerial / supervisory roles. This course delivers meaningful learning to enable employees to understand key concepts and discover how to take practical action to embed inclusion within their roles. In particular, the course covers:

Unconscious Bias and Microaggressions

This course provides an introduction to unconscious bias and microaggressions in the workplace. It is designed for all employees, including those with managerial / supervisory roles.

The course explains why surfacing unconscious bias and avoiding microaggressions is important to promote a culture of respect, fairness, inclusion and safety at work. In particular, the course covers:

the meaning of unconscious bias and examples of how it can surface at work

different forms of unconscious bias (including affinity, attribution, confirmation, conformity, proximity, recency and sunflower biases) with practical examples

guidance on how to challenge unconscious bias and practical actions to surface and counteract bias in decision-making and interactions with others at work

Effective Bystander Action

This course provides a deeper dive into the importance of effective bystander action, with practical guidance on the ways in which employees, including those with managerial / supervisory roles, can act to support others at work. The course explains what it means to be an effective bystander and the different ways in which people can speak up and act to support others when they observe or become aware of unacceptable, disrespectful or non-inclusive conduct. Introduction to the New Positive Duty

This course provides an introduction for people leaders and managers on the new positive duty under the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth). In particular, the course covers:

the meaning of the positive duty and what it requires from employers

why there is a need for a positive duty on employers to take proactive action

an overview of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s compliance framework for the duty, including guiding principles and relevant standards

what’s expected of senior leaders to meet the standards
